Lafayette Hill, stands out as one of Philadelphia’s most distinctive neighborhoods tree-canopied streets, historic stone twins, and homes that back directly onto the Wissahickon Valley give it a character all its own. But that same setting brings specific roofing challenges. The abundance of mature trees means more falling debris, more shade-driven moss growth, and faster wear on roof sections that rarely see the sun. Much of the housing stock here is older, too, often featuring original slate roofing, aging flashing systems, and roof designs that predate modern ventilation standards.
Strong gusts pose a significant risk to properties situated along Lafayette Hill riverside corridor. Murphy Roofing builds each roof using strategically chosen anchoring techniques, premium shingle products, and bonded starter strips engineered for this area’s climate, going beyond bare minimum building requirements.
Rowhouses in Lafayette Hill have often been patched again and again rather than truly replaced, and those layered fixes tend to mask real problems underneath. Murphy Roofing strips everything down to the deck, documents what’s found, repairs any underlying damage, and installs a new system that starts fresh not on top of decades of accumulated shortcuts.
Lafayette Hill’s wind conditions create distinct roofing challenges, including ridge and hip shingle blow-offs, step flashing failures around brick wall transitions, and wind-driven rain leaks near vertical wall connections. Murphy Roofing’s repair specialists trace each issue back to its true cause and deliver targeted solutions that fix the problem at the source, not just the symptoms.
Murphy Roofing’s Lafayette Hill roof inspections focus on the critical areas that protect rowhouses and attached homes, including parapet walls, coping systems, flat roof drainage, and flashing around wall transitions. Our team delivers accurate assessments backed by clear documentation, including real estate transaction-ready reports when required.
Roofs on commercial properties along Lafayette Hill’s main corridor can benefit significantly from professional roof coating — but proper drainage has to be confirmed first. Murphy Roofing evaluates drainage conditions and resolves ponding concerns before applying any coating system, helping ensure long-term performance instead of sealing moisture beneath a new surface.
In Lafayette Hill’s dense residential areas, a damaged roof can quickly become a concern for neighboring properties as well. Murphy Roofing’s emergency response process focuses on limiting damage, securing the affected area, installing temporary protection that doesn’t redirect water toward nearby homes, assessing interior water intrusion, and providing documentation for shared building claims when needed.
Older rowhouses in Lafayette Hill often have siding that’s been painted and repaired so many times that complete replacement becomes the most effective solution. Murphy Roofing evaluates the underlying structure first, upgrades moisture protection, and installs new siding with proper masonry transitions, ensuring long-lasting performance and a clean exterior finish.

Initially, I contacted Murphy's in early December 2025 because an ice dam had backed up my gutter, allowing water to enter my second-floor guest room. In January, I spoke with someone by phone about scheduling the necessary repairs. I do not have the original work request because it was communicated verbally. Eventually, I received an estimate and agreed to the price. However, I later noticed that, in the fine print, the work location had been changed to the front porch—a repair I had never requested or even inquired about. My concern was the water damage inside my home. After that, communication stopped. I never heard back from Murphy's and assumed no work had been performed. In June 2026, I unexpectedly received a call stating that I had an outstanding balance. I had no reason to believe any work had been completed. There was no evidence on my Ring camera that a crew had ever come to my home, I never received an invoice until that phone call, and no one contacted me to confirm the work had been completed or to follow up on the quality of the service. When I requested photos of the completed work to confirm they had completed the 2nd floor roof, but they didn't have any pictures from January when they allegedly came out to do the repair. Someone from Murphy's came in July 2026 to capture photos after my request, which only reinforced my concern that there was no documentation of the supposed completed work. Overall, the lack of communication, delayed paperwork, and billing for work I had no reason to believe was ever completed made this a very frustrating experience. Murphy's even offered to come back, now, and review the 2nd floor roof - I declined, of course. First photo shows where they chose to work. 2nd Photo shows where I THOUGHT they were going to work.Posted on Google Amanda NeuberTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Their quote to do the job was honest and fair, they completed the job efficiently and on time and they treated me with kindness and respect, not at all like the other roofers who saw me as a woman to be taken advantage of and overcharged. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.Posted on Google Megan HansonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently had the pleasure of working with Murphy Roofing after discovering a leak in our bedroom ceiling which required a whole new roof. From the initial consultation to the completion of the job, their team was professional, responsive, and incredibly efficient. They provided prompt service, finishing the roof in about a day and a half, which was faster than expected. The crew was courteous and kept the area clean. What really stood out was their fair and reasonable pricing. I highly recommend Murphy Roofing to anyone in need of reliable and high-quality service!Posted on Google Karen TotonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We got our kitchen done in February 2023 and had no issues. In October, we were told by our insurance company that we needed a new roof. So we went with a neighborhood company with Murphy. After they replaced the roof, we started noticing a stain by a window. We notified them multiple times and they kept sending people, but the problem persisted. We started noticing a leak in the ceiling by the sink. We told them multiple times about the leak, they kept sending people but the problem persisted. The last weekend in December, we went to the office about the leak. An older man called someone, yelled at them and told them to come look at the roof. Someone came and we thought the problem was finally fixed. The first big rain we got 1/9/2024, we came home to a hole in the ceiling, water dripping, and the water ran all the way to the opposite wall. Now we will probably have to find someone to redo the roof and fix all the drywall because Murphy’s work is terrible. STAY AWAY!!!
