Tucked along the edge of the Wissahickon Valley, Germantown, PA, is one of Philadelphia’s most distinctive neighborhoods, known for its canopy of mature trees, historic stone twin homes, and a setting that feels more like a wooded retreat than a city block. That natural beauty comes with a trade-off, though: falling leaves and overhanging branches trap moisture on rooftops, encourage moss and algae growth, and speed up wear in areas that rarely see direct sunlight.
Wind uplift is a serious concern for homes throughout Germantown and the surrounding river valley, where exposure to open terrain and shifting weather patterns puts extra strain on roofing systems. Murphy Roofing designs every installation around the realities of the local landscape, combining precise fastening methods, premium shingle materials, and secure adhesive starter strips to give your roof stronger holding power against high winds and severe storms.
Rowhomes in Germantown have often been patched and re-patched over the years rather than fully replaced, which can hide underlying damage and structural problems beneath the surface. Murphy Roofing takes a full-replacement approach, stripping away outdated materials, inspecting the roof deck underneath, resolving any damage found, and installing a new roofing system built to perform reliably for years to come.
Homes in Germantown often face wind-related roofing issues, including missing ridge and hip shingles, deteriorated flashing along brick walls, and leaks where wind-driven rain works its way in around roof-to-wall connections. Murphy Roofing’s repair team inspects each issue closely to pinpoint the true source of the problem, then delivers targeted repairs that restore protection without paying for work you don’t need.
Murphy Roofing provides detailed roof inspections throughout Germantown, with particular focus on the structural features common to row homes and attached properties. Our team closely evaluates parapet walls, coping details, drainage performance on flat roofing systems, and every roof-to-wall connection point to make sure nothing gets missed. Each inspection is backed by clear, well organized documentation, including reports formatted for real estate transactions when needed.
Germantown properties can benefit from professional roof coating services designed to restore, protect, and extend the life of existing roofing systems. Before any coating is applied, Murphy Roofing evaluates drainage patterns, identifies areas of standing water, and resolves underlying issues first — ensuring the coating provides real, lasting protection instead of simply sealing over hidden moisture problems.
In Germantown’s closely built residential neighborhoods, roof damage can quickly affect not just your home but the properties next to it. Murphy Roofing’s emergency response is designed to limit further damage by securing vulnerable areas, applying proper temporary protection, preventing water from being diverted onto neighboring homes, checking for interior moisture intrusion, and providing detailed documentation for shared-property situations when needed.
Older rowhouses in Germantown have often gone through years of painting, patching, and piecemeal repairs to their siding, making full replacement the best path to restoring both durability and appearance. Murphy Roofing starts by inspecting the existing structure, improving moisture protection, and installing new siding with properly detailed masonry transitions creating an exterior that’s secure, attractive, and built to last.

Initially, I contacted Murphy's in early December 2025 because an ice dam had backed up my gutter, allowing water to enter my second-floor guest room. In January, I spoke with someone by phone about scheduling the necessary repairs. I do not have the original work request because it was communicated verbally. Eventually, I received an estimate and agreed to the price. However, I later noticed that, in the fine print, the work location had been changed to the front porch—a repair I had never requested or even inquired about. My concern was the water damage inside my home. After that, communication stopped. I never heard back from Murphy's and assumed no work had been performed. In June 2026, I unexpectedly received a call stating that I had an outstanding balance. I had no reason to believe any work had been completed. There was no evidence on my Ring camera that a crew had ever come to my home, I never received an invoice until that phone call, and no one contacted me to confirm the work had been completed or to follow up on the quality of the service. When I requested photos of the completed work to confirm they had completed the 2nd floor roof, but they didn't have any pictures from January when they allegedly came out to do the repair. Someone from Murphy's came in July 2026 to capture photos after my request, which only reinforced my concern that there was no documentation of the supposed completed work. Overall, the lack of communication, delayed paperwork, and billing for work I had no reason to believe was ever completed made this a very frustrating experience. Murphy's even offered to come back, now, and review the 2nd floor roof - I declined, of course. First photo shows where they chose to work. 2nd Photo shows where I THOUGHT they were going to work.Posted on Google Amanda NeuberTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Their quote to do the job was honest and fair, they completed the job efficiently and on time and they treated me with kindness and respect, not at all like the other roofers who saw me as a woman to be taken advantage of and overcharged. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.Posted on Google Megan HansonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently had the pleasure of working with Murphy Roofing after discovering a leak in our bedroom ceiling which required a whole new roof. From the initial consultation to the completion of the job, their team was professional, responsive, and incredibly efficient. They provided prompt service, finishing the roof in about a day and a half, which was faster than expected. The crew was courteous and kept the area clean. What really stood out was their fair and reasonable pricing. I highly recommend Murphy Roofing to anyone in need of reliable and high-quality service!Posted on Google Karen TotonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We got our kitchen done in February 2023 and had no issues. In October, we were told by our insurance company that we needed a new roof. So we went with a neighborhood company with Murphy. After they replaced the roof, we started noticing a stain by a window. We notified them multiple times and they kept sending people, but the problem persisted. We started noticing a leak in the ceiling by the sink. We told them multiple times about the leak, they kept sending people but the problem persisted. The last weekend in December, we went to the office about the leak. An older man called someone, yelled at them and told them to come look at the roof. Someone came and we thought the problem was finally fixed. The first big rain we got 1/9/2024, we came home to a hole in the ceiling, water dripping, and the water ran all the way to the opposite wall. Now we will probably have to find someone to redo the roof and fix all the drywall because Murphy’s work is terrible. STAY AWAY!!!
